 *Cricket Trivia : India vs New Zealand*


New Zealand is the team which has shut our doors in two World Cups (across formats) and in one World Test Championship final in last four years. That's three ICC Trophies lost to them in four years. And for those who care to recollect, one of those three matches ended up as the last time MSD was in action in International Cricket.


But still there is never a frenzy created around India vs New Zealand. The Kiwis are always taken as the nice guys whom you do not mind losing to. You must have done something wrong to lose.


As we play against them once again today (against the picturesque Dhauladhar backdrop), it is interesting to note that India last won against New Zealand in an ICC World Cup match (any format) in 2003. 


Cheer for the Men in Blue, but Kiwis are good boys. 😊

Travel : Hampi - A Place which Time Forgot

I never get tired of exploring what India has to offer in terms of history, culture and heritage. And there is nothing better than travelling places to soak ourselves in this mystique called India. Finally, this week, I was able to tick Hampi out of my travel bucket.  It has been there on my mind right from the time I got posted to Bengaluru in July 2020. Obviously CoViD related travel restrictions took out a better part of the first year of posting. Since then, however, I have been trying to make amends for the lost time and do my best to explore the Southern India in the best way possible..... partly to satiate my own latent desires, and partly for the children who must grow up knowing our Incredible India; and what better way to do that, than to travel and explore.   Coursemates in the armed forces are a strange breed. Young hooligans thrown together by fate, and bound together for life,,, someone said. The days and nights spent together in the Training Academy all those years back, have forged a bond so strong, which no family or friend can replace. The agonies and the ecstacies of our training have ensured that.  Today, I may not have met some of them for last 25 years; but one call on mobile from any of them in any part of the country, is enough to transform you into a different person.  Wives have come to understand it. Children try to decode it.  Karanbir was one such youthful chatterbox.
